THE SACRIFICE FOR THE EXCELLENCY OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST

Image
ELGON MISSION TEAM DEVOTIONAL Bible Study Department Friday, 29th September 2023 Philippians 3:8 KJV Yea doubtless, and I count all things [but] loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them [but] dung, that I may win Christ, THE SACRIFICE FOR THE EXCELLENCY OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST       In Prov 3:5 the Bible instructs us not to lean on our own understanding, but this instruction is also extended in the process where one is acquiring for the excellency in the knowledge of Christ. Excellency in the knowledge of Christ is a place of carrying a full and pure divine counsel about the knowledge of Christ.         A man to get acquainted to the perfect knowledge of God has to count all things loss. This act is to usher someone in the place where his heart is broken enough to yield to the Holy Spirit to give him a pure insight or interpretation in the knowled...

PRIDE AND HUMILITY

Image
ELGON MISSION TEAM DEVOTIONAL Bible Study Department Sunday, 24th September 2023 Habakkuk 2:4 NKJV " Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. PRIDE AND HUMILITY         A man is humble or proud by the state of his heart, these two are not judged by the flesh although still they can be expressed But these two are seeds and if seeds then spirits. Pride in the man's heart is a seed of self-importance and reliance which is birthed by ignoring or overlooking God's hand upon you and focus on your own strength and achievements.  And humility is just appreciating and embracing that it's not by your power nor mighty but it's God's Grace. Forexample let's talk about righteousness by faith; a proud man inside his heart thinks that he can work out this righteousness by his own works. Yet he who has a seed of humility embrace it that on my own best it's just filthy rags.  Humility is a mark of faith, meaning...

A PERFECT HEART II

Image
ELGON MISSION TEAM DEVOTIONAL Bible Study Department Saturday, 23rd September 2023 1 Corinthians 13:13 KJV  And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these [is] charity. A PERFECT HEART - 2 Many people mistaken consecration with the consequences which comes from consecration plus the avenues for consecration.  These three are different and it's important for us to separate them; the consequences, avenues and consecration itself because consecration is of the heart which is later refered to as the circumcision of the heart  But as we said in our last devotional about a perfect heart; your level of yielding to the Holy Spirit is fundamental here, it determines how far your consecrated because it's the one which causes you to produce the marks of a perfect heart. A perfect heart is one which carries the marks of faith, hope and love which are the fruit of the Spirit. Why these; because faith connects you to things divine - your relati...

THE PERFECT HEART

Image
ELGON MISSION TEAM DEVOTIONAL Bible Study Department Thursday, 21st September 2023 Romans 8:27 AMP And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God's will. A PERFECT HEART       The Word has made us known that even the thinking faculty of a man is based on the state of his heart. Prov 23:7; says that for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. That's why in our theme scripture Ap Paul talks about the heart and then the mind. There's only one hinderance we have for us to walk in the full liberty set before us, our hearts have to be consecrated a certain way for us to be able to contain and then walk in those liberties. Because if a heart of a man isn't yet ready to sustain the glory which comes which the anointing, it can kill him But thanks be to God that He fulfilled His promise of a new ...

WHAT SUSTAINS OUR FAITH

Image
ELGON MISSION TEAM DEVOTIONAL Bible Study Department Wednesday, 20th September 2023 Hebrews 11:1 NLT Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. WHAT SUSTAINS OUR FAITH    The completion of faith is when you see or carry a vision of what you're expecting.  This implies that faith has eyes although these are not our physical eyes but as Ap Paul says that we walk by faith and not by sight meaning that the functioning of the eyes of a spiritual man are determined by his belief system One day we spoke about seeking but you can't seek what you don't see.  For Abraham to receive a mark of faith he had to first receive a vision from God as we see it Gen 15:1-6 and this is the vision which sustained him even to pass the test from God. He had seen the end of his life that he is to be a father to nations and this gave him a confidence that even though his taking Isaac on the altar to sacrifice him, he had to come back ...

THE WISE MAN

Image
ELGON MISSION TEAM DEVOTIONAL Wednesday 6th Sept 2023 Bible Study Department. Matthew 7:24-25 NKJV So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock. And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. THE WISE MAN The bible says Heaven and earth will pass away but His word forever remains. This word framed the foundations of the earth and all there is, its powerful, active and quick, able to accomplish all.  We see in our theme scripture Jesus teaching us on the words relation to building a strong house by a wise/sensible person, one who hears His words and does them.  Jesus invites us to not only listen to His teachings, but also to put them into action. It's not enough to simply hear the Word of God; we must also apply it to our lives. The foundation u...

HOLD ON, DON'T WAVER

Image
ELGON MISSION TEAM DEVOTIONAL Monday 4th September 2023 Bible Study Department Hebrews 10:23 NKJV Let us hold fast the confession of [our] hope without wavering, for He who promised [is] faithful. HOLD FAST, DON'T WAVER There can be times when what is around seems not to agree, with what you know as true, when the raging seems strong yet you confessed calm, when things seem funny, do not forsake the promise that He gave, don't waver stay on track. Our theme verse encourages us to hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering or shaking because of Him who promised is faithful. God is faithful in keeping His word,  He is not a man that lies, for this we can hold on to what He said without turning aside even when things seem out of hand, He is still God and working in us for His glory. GOLDEN NUGGET God is faithful in keeping His word, He is not a man that lies, for this we can hold on to what He said without turning aside even when things seem out of hand, He ...

HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF?

Image
ELGON MISSION TEAM DEVOTIONAL Sunday 3rd September, 2023 Bible Study Department   Numbers 13:33 (NKJV) There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight." HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF?  How do you see yourself How you see yourself in your own sight greatly defines how other people will see you It is seen in the scripture that after these men had spied on the land they came back to the congregation with a bad report based on their observation saying they won't be able to take over the promised land simply because they saw gigantic people in that land and according to them they were like grasshoppers(inferiors) in their own sight and in the sight of Anaks(superiors) God himself had given this promised land to the Israelites but because they saw strong rivals in the land, fear covered them and these men staggered at God's promise. Many times God has made promises to us b...

PUT OFF THE OLD

Image
ELGON MISSION TEAM DEVOTIONAL Saturday 2nd September 2023 Bible Study Department Joshua 24:14 NKJV "Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! PUT OFF THE OLD The Lord delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt as was His promise to their father. He faithfully walked them through the wilderness against all their enemies. Some of the children however shipped in foreign gods to the new land. Joshua in this portion of scripture tells them to choose to serve the Lord by putting away these gods.  They couldn't relate effectively with the Lord or even fully enjoy of the new land with these foreign gods on them, but had to put them away! We too are new creation and have received a new life and so have to continually lay aside every other things that are foreign to our new life. These old staff hold us from fully living in the new life.  ...

THE LORD AWAITS YOU

Image
ELGON MISSION TEAM DEVOTIONAL Friday 1st September 2023 Bible Study Department. James 4:8 NKJV Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [you] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [you] double-minded. THE LORD AWAITS YOU To draw near means to come close to, or make a step toward.  James a bond servant writes to his readers telling them to simply come near to God and God Himself will come near to them, Praise the lord. At times we may feel too far from Him, so away maybe because of what we have done or what has happened but look, nothing can ever outweigh the love He bestowed for us.  He is waiting on you just to turn to Him and He will embrace you.  Dont be deceived by the accuser (the devil) about anything, for the Lord our God is calling us back to Him no matter. Right through scripture, He shows His readiness to come unto us, He says ```"call unto me and I will answer.."``` (jer 33:3), He says ```"come let us reason together.....
