INTERCESSORY PRAYER

Image
INTERCESSORY PRAYER Elgon Bible study department Thursday 22nd June, 2023   1 Samuel 1:12-13(KJV) And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth. Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. Different types of prayer have been developed; intercessions, supplications, thanksgiving prayers among others. However, most people pray too much but without their hearts in the matter. They pray in tongues but without the Spirit. Yes, they speak unknown languages but the Spirit is not in the matter, why..... because the heart is not concerned. There's a connection between your heart and your spirit. That's why when you were receiving Christ you believed in your heart and confessed. The heart was important in receiving the Spirit.  Our Lord Jesus, went to Gethsemane to pray and his sweet became like blood. He was interceding. In our theme scripture, t...

SPECIAL INTEREST OF HEAVEN

SPECIAL INTEREST OF HEAVEN Wednesday 21st June 2023 Elgon Bible Study Department. Jeremiah 1:5 KJV “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”    GOD has a special interest in you, not because HE made you but because whatever HE has planned for you is beyond what you normally admire from people on earth whatever is happening on earth in your times, you partly have an influence which must radiate out of your existence to be a light to people all over the universe.. Philippians 2:15(KJV) says; “That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;” But GOD is asking "where is are you?" because your prayer place irregularly record your presence yes, it's only from your prayer place that you make yourself available for the working of GOD thro...

THE FAITHFUL STEWARD

Image
THE FAITHFUL STEWARD Elgon Bible Study Department Tuesday, 20 June 2023 Luke 12:48 KJV But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.    In our previous devotional yesterday, we learnt that we have received the ministry of reconciliation which is also compared as the greater ministry than that of condemnation because the letter kills but the Spirit gives life and we have the ministry of the Spirit. After receiving such a glorious ministry, we can't settle for less until all people come to the full knowledge of Christ      But this requires us to become faithful stewards because we are being given and committed with much which position us to be  required much. To be faithful is not all about being available, neither just being effective but as the Word is double edg...

BECAUSE WE HAVE RECEIVED

Image
BECAUSE WE HAVE RECEIVED Monday 19th June 2023 Elgon Bible Study Department. 2 Corinthians 5:19-20 NKJV that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore [you] on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. When we become born again, we become new creatures, and we recieve a ministry of reconciliation, that which Christ did, He gives to us to continue in. As God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, now He is in me & you, doing the same. We are the carriers of this reconciliation which we received from Christ. We are the ambassadors of Him, having the fullness of Christ's reconciliation in us and so have to deliver it to the owners of it, by reaching out to them. We have received this ministry and so we have to deliver it, not because of how we feel, not want bu...

DON'T DESPISE INSTRUCTION

Image
DON'T DESPISE INSTRUCTION Saturday 17th June 2023 Elgon Bible Study Department. 2 Kings 5:11-14 AMP  And his servants came near and said to him, My father, if the prophet had bid you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much rather, then, when he says to you, Wash and be clean? Sometimes, because of how big we may imagine in our minds that the task at hand is, we expect some too complicated instructions about them, something that will take too much to accomplish and forsake/despise doing the simple things that He has instructed us to do, now this is so dangerous. We see that Naaman would have willingly done some complicated thing that the prophet would have asked but then was walking away from a simple instruction because it looked too small according to what he thought. But it is in this that his cleansing had been hidden and not anywhere else.  God’s ways are not ours and His are far above ours, that everything about Him surpasses by far what w...

THE BATTLEFIELD OF THE MIND

Image
THE BATTLEFIELD OF THE MIND Friday 16th June 2023 Elgon Bible study department 2 Corinthians 10:4-5(KJV) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. Strongholds are in the mind. If you study the language of our theme scripture carefully, you will realise that everything is in the mind. It speaks of casting down IMAGINATIONS, every high thing that exalts itself against the KNOWLEDGE of God and bringing into captivity every THOUGHT to the obedience of Christ. This is not about fighting the "power" of demons, rulers or principalities. It is not about taking a forty day dry fast against the witchcraft from your in-law, auntie or they that wish you evil. True warfare is convincing your mind about what God has done and the finished work of C...

CHRIST THE LORD OF OUR LIVES

Image
CHRIST THE LORD OF OUR LIVES Elgon Bible Study Department Thursday, 15th June 2023 Proverbs 3:5 KJV  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.    One of the meaning of Lord is that I have control over you. So what it means when we call Christ our Lord is that you have given Him the authority to own your everything. Our theme scripture talks about understanding; the way you think things must be done. This is different from knowledge because understanding is like tradition and in there knowledge becomes the customs. Let me an example of the kingdoms, we know that in kingdoms one to inherit the kingship has to carry the bloodline of that lineage. Now on our own understanding it's difficult or beyond possible to become a king of that kingdom if your not in that lineage. Imagine you come across a scripture, kings will come to the brightness of your rising Isa 60:3 would you say that it's not my potion yet the Ap Peter tells ...

SERVICE FROM A PURE CONSCIOUS

SERVICE FROM A PURE CONSCIOUS Elgon Bible Study Department  Wednesday, 14th June 2023 Revelation 2:4 KJV  Nevertheless I have [somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.        Before corruption came into the world, there was a certain definition about everything. There was a different knowledge about anything; knowledge about increase, about seasons, worship. there's a way the world today sees things differently from the heavens although similar but dilute      Now LOVE; there various forms of love although the common ones are four; agape, Eros, Storge, Philia but before corruption came into the world, there was only one kind of Love the Agape and what separates it from others is that for it there's no strings attached. This is a mother to every heavenly principal, the Agape Love and it birth ministry. We don't minister to love but Love compels us to minister. A man can seek God, do everything for the ministry...

WALKING WORTHY OF CALLING

Image
WALKING WORTHY OF CALLING Tuesday 13th June 2023 Elgon Bible Study Department. Ephesians 4:1 AMP I THEREFORE, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to and beg you to walk (lead a life) worthy of the [divine] calling to which you have been called [with behavior that is a credit to the summons to God's service, We know that when we accept Christ, we are made new creatures. The old is gone and we are all together introduced to a new life, in other words a new living is given to us. Paul in our theme verse instructs the Ephesians to walk in a way worthy of the calling that they have been called.  This means carrying ourselves in ways that are approved by the Lord, a way that glorifies the Master. We are the light to the world, through our lives, men see Christ. In our day today engagements, our ways of action, speech and conduct ought to reveal Christ to men. This is why we have to live worthy of the calling. Our way of living should testify to the new life that we have receive...

IMITATE ONLY GOOD

Image
IMITATE ONLY GOOD Monday 12th June 2023 Bible Study Department. 3 John 1:11 NKJV  Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God. To imitate is to take or to follow as a model, to follow after one’s example. It can be in speech, or deed.  Paul in (1 Cor.11) tells the people at Corinth to imitate him as he imitated Christ. Imitating Christ is what qualifies one to be imitated by others. In our theme verse, John writes to Gaius a beloved friend warning him to take caution and not to follow what is evil, for doers of such do not know God. This is because you are responsible for your life and the things that you do. Child of God, you should not just imitate anything no matter who did it, evil is evil and will not be good because you saw someone doing. This calls us to get grounded in the truth so that we are able to clearly tell the difference and know what is right.  We have to test everyt...

POSITIVE THINKING

Image
POSITIVE THINKING Sunday 11th June 2023 Elgon Bible Study Department. Philippians 4:8 (KJV) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. After he had told them to keep anxiety away, and to pray in all things with thanksgiving and the peace of the Lord will guard them, he now tells them to think right. To think about the things which are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, good and which are praise worthy. This creates in us a good state that is able to give the right response to circumstances. As a man thinks so is he, and also what comes out of us is determined by what fills our inside. Thinking rightly always will give room for us to produce the same in response to any external demand. Let's always endeavor to think right, of the things that a...

THE NEED FOR SELF DISCIPLINE

Image
THE NEED FOR SELF DISCIPLINE Saturday 10th June, 2023 Elgon Bible Study Department 1 Corinthians 9:27(KJV) But I keep under my body, and bring it subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. It is possible that a man can be doing something yet he be beating up the air and missing up on what he/she is supposed to get as a prize. This comes as a lack of self discipline and being unintentional about that which he is doing or God is doing.  Whenever somebody lacks self discipline, he looses focus on that which he is doing and begins to come up with excuses when he has failed in the race or has missed on the prize. As a new creation, God has given us the power to tame and train our body and subject it to that which the Spirit requires..... that's why Paul says in our theme scripture that I beat up my body and put it under subjection so that it conforms to the spiritual requirements of the Word or what God is doing. So you...

DON'T LOOSE THE REWARD

Image
DON'T LOSE THE REWARD Friday 9th June 2023 Bible Study Department. 2 John 1:8 (AMP) Look to yourselves (take care) that you may not lose (throw away or destroy) all that we and you have labored for, but that you may [persevere until you] win and receive back a perfect reward [in full].  As a son of God, there is a great reward to your labor that awaits you in this journey and you are entitled to receive it in its full form and piece.  John writes letting us know that we must be sobber/vigilant/careful that we may not lose this great reward  for which we have laboured because there is increasing pressure against our reward.  How to keep guard and not lose the reward is by staying in communion and contact with the Lord Almighty. That He will keep you on the best path that you get the perfect reward and in full. JOT OF VERACITY We have a great reward for our labours in Christ and so we ought to keep guard of it by remaining in constant communion with the Lor...

BEFORE THE FOUNDATIONS, HE KNEW US

Image
BEFORE THE FOUNDATIONS, HE KNEW US Elgon Bible Study Department Thursday, 8th June, 2023 Ephesians 1:4 (MSG) Long before He laid down the earth's foundations, He had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of His love, to be be made whole and Holy by His love.  Rick Warren wrote in his book purpose driven live that, "It's only in God where we can discover our origin, identity, meaning, purpose, significance and destiny". He knew all about us before we came to be, when, where and to who we were to be born, including our purpose and destiny. He is the author of us, and nothing about us is new or hidden from Him. The fullest of us can only be revealed to us when we focus on Him who knew us before we were. Focusing on ourselves will never reveal the fullest of our life's purpose but rather focusing on God will.   Even in all what we do, the fullest of result is when we seek and understand His plan and will for us. Prov 16:3 tells us to commit our work a...

SURRENDER ALL TO JESUS

Image
SURRENDER ALL TO JESUS Elgon Bible Study Department Wednesday, 7th June 2023 Proverbs 3:5 KJV Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. A person who has believed in Jesus is one who enters His rest but it requires you to surrender everything to Him. To surrender is not all about giving out all your assets, it's beyond leaving food and fast for days but it's all about leaning your entire personality to Christ and allow Him to do things His Way. In the book of Jeremiah 17:5 the Bible speaks about a man inner man who trusts in man flesh that he is cursed and he won't see good.  Spiritual blindness is when you lean on your own understanding and the end result of this is that your heart will turn away from the Lord and you won't be able to see the good in Him  You may have read your books, or labored more than your workmates, you pray for more hours than anyone and all these are useful but always remember that it's alw...

WE HAVE OVERCOME

Image
WE HAVE OVERCOME Tuesday 6th June 2023 Elgon Bible Study Department. 1 John 4:4 (AMP)  Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier.) than he who is in the world. Our victory over the devil and all his schemes against us is through Jesus Christ our Lord who already won the victory for us. Praise the Lord. We can not talk about any victory over the works of the devil while we are outside Christ, there is not such a thing. The greater one inside of us is the source of our victory. We therefore have to strengthen our being in Christ, we ought to be in Him at all times, we have to establish a conducive dwelling for Him in our lives and our everything for His presence is our victory. A man who sees his victory in his sword or spear ensures he is with it always and it is in good state, we too have to ensure we are in Christ because there in is ...

SERVING GOD; IT WAS NOT IN VAIN

Image
SERVING GOD; IT WASN'T IN VAIN Elgon Bible Study Department Monday, 5th June 2023 John 1:1 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.     There's a point in life where things around you, the situation your in doesn't reflect the consistency you have put in serving God. This is a man who has served with all his heart not just fulfilling responsibility of a position but because of the love for the Father. But still this man doesn't see results of a faithful stewards. In our theme scripture we see one of the power of Communion which is TRANSFORMATION . This means that if the Word at first was just a mere Word, later It starts communing with God and through continuous communion it made It to become God, my brother and sister it's a time issue Science teaches us that the star during day it absorbs light from the sun and when it's appointed time comes in the evening it radiates off that light. But we are not like th...

OUR FIRST LOVE

Image
OUR FIRST LOVE Elgon Bible Study Department Sunday, 4th June 2023 Revelation 2:4 KJV Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Availability is not wholeheartedness that's why God searches the heart and test the mind.  In our theme scripture we learn that Love is fundamental in ministry; your love relationship with God. Because before the theme scripture we see that this church was okay in everything but the issue was the FIRST LOVE             Ministers are consumed by a lot of programs where they over be everywhere in the name of serving God and they shorten their personal time with God. I understand there's a place where it's your season of manifestation but you have not to lose your place of first Love; that one on one, when it's you and your lover alone. In Mark 6:46 we see the lifestyle of our Lord that He still created that personal time with God. The didn't allow the ministry to take all H...

IMITATING CHRIST THROUGH YOU II

Image
IMITATING CHRIST THROUGH YOU Elgon Bible Study Department  Saturday 3rd June 2023 1 Timothy 4:12 MSG And don't let anyone put you down because you're young. Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity. In yesterday's devotional, we learnt that By men imitating you (doing as you do, following your step, way of speech, and manner of life), they are supposed to reach Christ.  To imitate can mean to follow after another's way of doing things or pattern of life. This means that even before we stand to tell them to do, or even after, they can see it from us. In our theme verse, Paul tells Timothy to teach with his life, by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity. In other words His life be an example of the things he wants them to learn. When we live a Christ like life, it will be easy for men to believe and trust you. If we are truly imitating Christ, there will be no worry about those imitating you because by ...

IMITATING CHRIST THROUGH YOU I

Image
IMITATING CHRIST THROUGH YOU Elgon Bible Study Department Friday 2nd June 2023 1 Thessalonians 1:6 MSG and determined to live that way yourselves. In imitating us, you imitated the Master. Although great trouble accompanied the Word, you were able to take great joy from the Holy Spirit!--taking the trouble with the joy, the joy with the trouble. We know that we are the temples of the Holy one, Christ abides in us. And the bible says as He is so are we in this world. In other words men should see Christ through us. Paul Silvanas and Timothy write in our theme verse tell the thessalonians that *in imitating them, they imitated the Master Jesus* This is what our lives are. By men imitating you (doing as you do, following your step, way of speech, and manner of life), they are supposed to reach Christ.  Paul tells those at Corinth to imitate him as he imitates Christ, meaning his life, as he imitated Christ, was a guiding light to them. That when to follow him, you are actu...

SEEING CHRIST THE HOPE OF GLORY IN EVERY MAN

Image
SEEING CHRIST THE HOPE OF GLORY IN EVERY MAN Elgon Bible Study Department  Thursday, 1st June 2023 Colossians 1:27 KJV to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: There's a place where a man can seem to disappoint you because you expected something from that person and they don't manifest it. In Acts 15:36-40 we see a saga where Paul didn't want to go with Mark to visit the brethren in all the cities they had preached to because Mark departed from them when they faced persecutions in Pamphylia but Barnabas defended him because he (Barnabas) had received a certain knowledge about the love of God; he was even patient to Paul. In our campus ministry the same thing usually happens where people can disappoint you. But we have to first understand the place of that man before you cast a judgement on him. We are so early with judging men and sometimes forget that they were a...
